Firstsource bags $100 mn outsourcing deal from Barclays
BPO firm Firstsource Solutions has bagged a five-year outsourcing contract, worth up to $100 million from the UK-based banking major Barclay Plc's unit Barclayscard. Firstsource has signed a five-year outsourcing partnership agreement and the deal size is between $80-100 million. The deal involves management of Barclay card's credit card and consumer lending business.

TCS buys captive unit of SuperValu for $100 mn
Tata Consultancy Services has acquired Super-Valu Services India, the captive IT/ unit of Minneapolis-based grocery retailer SuperValu Inc. As per a multi-year deal, valued over $100 million, over 600 associates of SuperValu working in will now become part of TCS. The engagement is transformational in nature and will drive operational efficiencies for SuperValu through integration of IT, BPO and infrastructure services.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Teams with Accenture and Oracle for Smart Meter Implementation throughout Central Maryland
Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG), has teamed with Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and Oracle to implement a smart meter network for its 1.2 million customers. The planned implementation is part of BGE’s smart grid initiative that aims to reduce peak electricity demand, increase customer service and enhance operational performance.

IBM to buy analytics company Netezza for $1.7 bn
IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ) have entered into a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire Netezza, a publicly held company, at a net price of approximately $1.7 billion. Netezza will expand IBM's business analytics initiatives to help clients gain faster insights into their business information, with increased performance at a lower cost.
